The news media has been going nuts for the last week reporting on the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. This has been and still is a horrific event in the annals of history. In fact, there have been a lot of natural disasters all around the globe in the last few months. It kind of makes you think that there might be earth changes coming in 2012, as has been predicted for so many years. This may or may not be the case.
The thing that makes this natural disaster so significant is the fracture and/or melt down of the nuclear reactor at the Fukushima power plant. At first, the news was speculating about all kinds of radiation and what it might do to the people of Japan, the USA and the rest of the world. I suspect that most of the information was not truthful to keep from scaring the people into panic.
One report was that the radiation leak was minor and if the people stayed in their homes, they would be safe. I found this story to be a little too farfetched. As of now, the situation seems desperate in Japan, with a confirmation coming this morning that the food near the Fukushima power plant is now radioactive. I don’t think this comes as a big surprise.
The official government explanation about radiation exposure in Japan is an insult to one’s intelligence. A few days ago, they said things like “the amount of radiation people are experiencing is only equal to that of a chest X-ray.” They now are comparing their exposure to “the amount of radiation you might get from a CT scan.” What they don’t tell you is that a CT scan emits up to 600 times more radiation than a chest X-ray.
What’s the next report coming out on this disaster? Are they going to announce that people are only exposed to “the same amount of radiation as amiss-calibrated mammogram?” Mammograms cause cancer, even if it is calibrated correctly, so this will be a bad comparison. The other problem in Japan is that the radiation is continuous, not intermittent with a flick of a button.
The truth is that a lot of misinformation is being disseminated by the Japanese and US governments. It seems to me that the truth would be in order, but Obama announced that there was nothing to worry about. I don’t think we should panic, but there are some things that would be prudent to consider.
The main worry is that the reactors are melting down and putting water on them is not working. There have been some suggestions that covering them with concrete would solve the problem. Whatever the truth is, I think we should be prepared.
We know the prevailing winds in the world go from west to east. This also is what is considered the Jet stream. While the exact amount of radiation coming to the USA can’t be determined, just as sure as God made little green apples (according to an old song), there is radiation coming to the west coast of the USA and then going east. This time of the year the Jet stream is general to the north and not dipping down into the south; also, the prevailing winds in Texas and the southern states are coming from the Gulf of Mexico and going north, so there is little danger of radiation poisoning in this area. This is not true for the upper Midwest and the northern states.
It is safe to assume that some people in the USA are going to be exposed to some radiation. What can we do to protect the people and animals – food producing animals?
During the Chernobyl disaster, the Russians shipped boron into the area by truck. The drivers volunteered for what they thought might be their last endeavor on earth due to the radiation. On their trip, they had to fuel up, stop for food and something to drink and to sleep most likely. They were around their trucks and they had the opportunity to breathe some of the boron dust. Much to everyone’s surprise the drivers did not develop any symptoms of radiation poisoning. Not only that, but the people exposed to the radiation in the Chernobyl had far fewer symptoms of radiation poisoning than anyone predicted.
Because of this, I would recommend everyone get some boron tablets and keep them on hand.
There is also solid evidence that potassium iodine helps prevent radiation poisoning. On the other hand, most thyroid disease is due to people, particularly women, not getting enough iodine in their diets, so a little extra potassium iodine can’t hurt as long as it is not an overdose.
There is also a special brown kelp that comes from an area of the ocean north of Japan that helps to detoxify radiation and other heavy metals like mercury and lead from the systems of people. The bad news is that they have sold out of the product.
One of the problems with cattle is that they also do not get enough iodine and have many diseases that are glandular in nature. Supplementing iodine is good for the cow’s good health. I ordered their iodine before the nuclear disaster so I will dissolve the iodine compound in their water troughs.
Most of you have not heard of this before, but a friend of mine has developed a product out of humates and he allows me to re-label the product under my label. The humate product has recently been approved in Mexico as an anti-viral, anti-cancer and anti-osteoporosis source. The US and Canada approvals will be forthcoming because of the NAFTA law between these three nations. Meanwhile, this product is and always will be available as an over-the-counter supplement. The interesting fact about this supplement is that it also detoxifies and prevents radiation poisoning. I have the product and I sell it under the name of Humates FP.
So, what are some of the complications of radiation? I think the truth is that we don’t know a lot about it.
There is no doubt that mammograms cause breast cancer from radiation, but the other factor is that when they squeeze the breast tissue, if there are cancer cells present, they are spread to surrounding tissue and the cancer gets worse quicker. The reason that doctors and the Susan G Komen foundation don’t tell women this is because of the billions of dollars they make. Integrity is not something these people care about. There is a heat-measuring device, thermography, which is perfectly safe and has almost no false positives – surgery when it is not needed).
We know that the USA exploded two atomic bombs in Japan that ended WW2 in Japan and the bombs actually melted people and buildings. Very few people survived the immediate area around ground zero and those that did had serious burns and complications of radiation. What is surprising is that the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki have come out of the ashes and are thriving, growing cities with few problems from the radiation that occurred in 1945.
After WW2, the USA took Japanese ships and US ships that were obsolete and anchored them off the coast of the Bikini Atoll. They used various atomic bombs to try and sink the ships. Some of the bombs were exploded underwater and some above the water. There were serious questions about whether the sailors watching these explosions would suffer from radiation poisoning. I had a friend who was there for the explosions and neither he nor any of his shipmates had any health issue after the war and they had normal children.
So what should we do? I think it would be prudent to stop eating any food – produce and fruit from California – until we know if there is a real danger. There will be radiation fallout on the west coast of the US.
How much radiation will get east of the west coast is unknown.
I would suggest having potassium iodine and/or boron in your cabinets to take just in case.
Don’t believe the government, as they will lie and make the media report what the government wants you to know. Look for independent reporting sources that you can trust, like this newsletter.
